Damaschin Dominates Final Fall Tournament

DENTON, Texas - Sophomore Delia Damaschin rolled through her competition at the North Texas Classic to finish the fall semester with a perfect 5-0 tournament.

The only Shocker competing at the Classic, Damaschin teamed up with Maria Martinez from the University of Texas-Arlington for doubles competition.

The duo went 2-0 at the tournament beginning with an 8-6 victory over Catalina Cruz and Ashley Akin of North Texas. Later on Friday, the pair knocked North Central Texas College's Mariel Alvarez and Katherine Kelly, 8-2.

In singles play, Damaschin beat Adna Curukovic from Northwestern State in a three-set battle, 7-6, 4-6, 6-1. Her fourth match and final victory of the day came at the hands of Irina Paraschiv from North Texas. Paraschiv retired after Damaschin took a 5-1 lead.

On Saturday, Damaschin finished up her 5-0 run with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Klara Jagasova from Texas-Arlington.

Damaschin now joins her teammates back in Wichita to begin winter workouts for the spring season.
