EL PASO, Texas -- Shocker golfer Dustin Garza fell just one stroke shy of the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic title after shooting a 72 (+1) in the final round of the tournament on Tuesday.
The senior All-American's 203 (-10) barely missed the one-hole playoff that occurred between Alabama's Hunter Hamrick and Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffman. Each of them carded a 202 for the tournament to force the playoff. Hamrick won the playoff and the 2009 title.
Garza shot an impressive 64 (-7) in the opening round to best all 31 fellow All-Americans that comprised the field. His 67 (-4) in the second round gave him a two-stroke lead after day one.
Played on the Par-71 El Paso Country Club Course, the tournament featured All-Americans from the 2008-09 season.
