WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 61 Wichita State women's tennis team will play their last home matches of the season this weekend.
Saturday, the Shockers welcome Drake to the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex at 1 p.m. The next day is senior day for Lutfiana Budiharto and Delia Damaschin when the Shockers take on Northern Iowa at 10 a.m.
Drake (20-5, 4-1) is coming off a weekend where they split conference matches. The Bulldogs lost a tough match to Southern Illinois, 4-3, on Saturday, April 14th. The next day they were able to take down Evansville, 5-2. Junior Manca Krizman who is 21-1 in singles competition during the spring season leads Drake. She has won nine out of her last ten matches. Krizman and her doubles partner Gabriela Demos are also having a very strong season, having a record of 20-4 in the spring season.
Northern Iowa (11-9, 1-4) will be looking to bounce back from a pair of conference losses last weekend. The Panthers lost to Evansville, 5-2, on Saturday, April 14th, and Southern Illinois, 6-1, on Sunday, April 15th. They will take on Creighton Saturday before their match against the Shockers on Sunday.
The Shockers (16-5, 5-0) will be looking to go undefeated in the conference season for the year and capture the number one seed for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Senior Lutfiana Budiharto, who is ranked No. 78 in singles competition by the ITA, leads Wichita State. Fellow senior, and reigning MVC Athlete of the Week Delia Damaschin will be looking for her fifth straight singles win on the season. None of the Shockers have lost a singles match in conference play.
After the weekend matches, the Shockers will head to Omaha, Neb. for the MVC Championships April 27-29.
