ATHENS, Ga.- Wichita State senior Lutfiana Budiharto will take on Petra Niedermayerova from Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Niedermayerova is ranked No. 29 in the ITA rankings and holds a singles record of 22-12 on the season.
Budiharto is ranked No. 81 and will look to continue her stellar career as a Shocker. She is 24-5 on the season in singles play, including 21-3 during the spring season. Her 6-2, 6-2 win against Aniko Kiss of Illinois State in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship gave Budiharto her 108th win of her career, putting her in a tie for second place on the Wichita State all-time wins list.
It will be the second time this season the two student-athletes have met each other in singles play. On April 5th, Niedermayerova defeated Budiharto, 6-4, 6-3, in the Shockers 4-3 win over Kansas State.
The winner of Wednesday's match will advance to the second round on Thursday to face the winner of No. 16 Diana Nakic of Baylor and No. 27 Gabriela Mejia of Miami.
