WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State volleyball student-athlete Jackie Church has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week for the week of Oct. 1-7.

Church, a senior libero from Fairway, Kan., helped the Shockers to a 3-0 week with wins over Oklahoma, Illinois State and Indiana State.  She averaged 5.55 digs, 1.09 assists and 0.18 aces per set. 

At OU on Wednesday, she had a match-high 25 digs and also added six assists, which tied her career-high.  Against ILS, she had a match-high 21 digs along with three assists and against INS she had a match-high 15 digs along with three assists and two service aces.   

It is the second MVC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor of her career.

Church and the Shockers are back in action on Fri., Oct. 12 at Missouri State.
