WICHITA, Kan. - Sixth-year head coach Gregg Marshall has announced the signing of D.J. Bowles, Ria'n Holland, Shaquille Morris, and Earl Watson to National Letters-of-Intent to play men's basketball at Wichita State beginning with the 2013-14 season.

"We are very pleased to announce we have four NLI's back from our four verbal commitments," Marshall said.

Earl Watson, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound forward from Ft. Pierce, Fla., is playing at Chipola Junior College. He attended Queen City Prep Academy in Charlotte, N.C., for one year after attending Fort Pierce Central High.

"We started recruiting Earl out of high school and he is playing at Chipola Junior College," Marshall said. "He is a 6-8 powerful post who is a very explosive lefty. He defends, blocks shots, and rebounds at a very high level."

Ria'n Holland, a 5-foot-11, 165 pound forward from Hope Mills, N.C., averaged 20.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists a year ago as a junior at South View High School. He was named to the first team All-Cape Fear region team by the Fayetteville Observer, and also to the All-Mid-South 4-A Conference team.

"Ria'n is a combo guard who resembles a Demetric Williams who can really score the basketball off the dribble or catch and shoot it," Marshall said. "He is very athletic, and his height belies his tenacious competitive spirit."

Shaquille Morris, a 6-foot-8, 260-pound forward from Edmond, Okla., averaged 13.0 points and 5.6 rebounds as a junior last season on an Edmond Santa Fe team that reached the Class 6A state semifinals. He will play this season at Edmond Memorial.

"Shaq Morris was aptly named by his mom as he is 6-foot-8, 260 pounds," Marshall said. "He is similar in skill set to J.T. Durley, but is a more explosive athlete that can score facing the basket or with his back to the basket."

D.J. Bowles, a 6-foot-2, 180 pound forward from Cleveland, Tenn., averaged 17.9 points, 3.1 assists and four rebounds for the Blue Raiders as a junior, helping his team advance to the Region 3-AAA quarterfinals. He was also named to the Tennessee All-State team. He is currently playing at Oldsmar Christian Prep in Tampa, Fla.

"D.J. is a consummate floor general that can score and get everyone of his teammates involved in the offense," Marshall said.

"As pleased as we are with the athletic talent and skills these signees possess," Marshall said. "we are more impressed with the quality of individuals, and really excited for the young men to join our basketball family."
