MTen: Shocks Set For Match Against No. 8 Oklahoma

WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State men's tennis team will travel to Norman, Okla. for a match against No. 8 Oklahoma at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion on Tuesday.

It will be the first match of the season for the Sooners who finished last season with a 19-4 mark, including a perfect 5-0 in the Big 12. Senior Guillermo Alcorta won the ITA Central Region Championship in the fall and comes in at No. 36 in the most recent ITA rankings. Sophomore Dane Webb is No. 71 and senior Costin Paval is No. 103. In doubles play, the Sooners have three teams in the top 60 with Costin Paval and Dane Webb coming in at No. 12, Axel Alvarez Llamas and Guillermo Alcorta at No. 32 and Alvarez Llamas and Webb at No. 50.

The Shockers are also playing their first match of the team season after coming off a very successful fall season. Senior team captain, Matheus Pereira, led the way in the fall season with a 6-4 singles record, including two wins over ranked opponents. Pereira also teamed up with sophomore Alvaro Gutierrez to go 10-4 in doubles competition.
