WICHITA, Kan.- Only one singles match went into a third set, as the Wichita State men's tennis team defeated McPherson 7-0 on Wednesday at Genesis Health Club.
The Shockers, who moved their record to 4-2 on the season, came out striking in the doubles competition, winning in all three positions.
It was much of the same in singles play. First, Tin Ostojic defeated Sean Dullaghan, 6-3, 6-1, then, Alvaro Gutierrez defeated Sean De Young, 6-0, 6-2, and to clinch the match for Wichita State, Erick Reyes defeated Mark Mahan, 6-0, 6-0. Matheus Pereira, Tomislav Gregurovic and Guillermo Nicol also picked up singles victories for the Shockers.
For their next match, Wichita State will head to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Friday, February 22 for a match against Air Force at 4 p.m. The next day they will head to Denver, Colo. to take on currently No. 52 Denver at 6 p.m.
