MTen: Shockers Set for Matches Friday and Saturday

WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 74 Wichita State men's tennis team will welcome Washburn and Oral Roberts to Genesis Health Club this weekend.

Washburn (1-2) will be playing their first match in almost a month after falling 5-4 to Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday, February 9. The Ichabods are led by junior Bobby Florence who has compiled a singles record of 8-3 on the season.

Oral Roberts (0-6) fell 6-1 to No. 51 Arkansas on Sunday, February 17. At the No. 1 singles position, Fabian Zierleyn has a record of 3-2 on the season.

Wichita State (6-3) defeated Air Force and Denver before falling to Nebraska 4-1 on Monday, February 25. Senior Matheus Pereira was named the Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week for his efforts over the weekend. He has a record of 11-6 on the season in singles play and 17-5 in doubles play. Pereira, Alvaro Gutierrez and Erick Reyes are all carrying three-match winning streaks heading into the weekend.

The Wasburn match will be on Friday, February 1 at 12:30 p.m. while the match against Oral Roberts will be on Saturday at noon. Live scoring will be available for both matches and results will be posted on following each day.
