WICHITA, Kan. – Following a midweek matchup with top-ranked Oklahoma, Wichita State returns to conference play Friday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Evansville.

The three-game series with the Purple Aces will be a pivotal contest for both teams looking to make their way up the conference ladder. Wichita State was picked eighth in the MVC preseason poll followed in ninth by Evansville.

What Happened Last Time?

In their last meeting the Shockers earned their only conference sweep of the 2012 season bringing down the Purple Aces three straight times at Cooper Stadium Apr. 14-15 in Evansville, Ind. The Shockers sandwiched a pair of 1-0 victories around a 7-1 victory in the series’ second game. Wichita State’s highlight of the season came in game one with Sloan Anderson entering in relief in the bottom of the seventh with one out and the bases loaded. Anderson got a strikeout and a lineout to left field to preserve the 1-0 victory propelling the Shockers to the three-game sweep.
