WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women’s tennis team will travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa on Saturday, April 6 to play UNI and Des Moines, Iowa on Sunday, April 7 to face Drake.
UNI (6-6, 0-1) is coming off a 5-2 loss in their first Missouri Valley Conference match against Drake on Saturday, March 30. Phoebe Walker leads the Panthers in singles play with a record of 16-4, including 10-2 in dual matches. Chelsea Moore is not far behind with a record of 15-8. Walker and Krissy Lankelma have posted an impressive 16-6 record in doubles play so far on the season.
Drake (8-7, 1-0) defeated Bradley 6-1 in a non-conference match on Friday, March 15 before defeating UNI. Jordan Eggleston has a record of 19-11 in singles play for the Bulldogs while Nell Boyd is 17-15. Eggleston and Klavdija Rebol lead the way in doubles competition with a record of 17-9.
Wichita State (6-10, 1-0) ended a very tough non-conference schedule with a 6-1 loss to No. 59 Missouri on Sunday, March 24. Montse Blasco Fernandez is 16-8 on the season in singles competition including three straight victories. Freshman Rebecca Pedrazzi is 14-11.
Saturdays match against UNI will begin at 11 a.m. while Sundays match against Drake has a first serve set for 10 a.m. Results will be posted on GoShockers.com.
