Illinois State (8-10, 3-1) is coming off a weekend where they suffered their first Missouri Valley Conference loss of the season against Southern Illinois 6-1 on Saturday, April 6 and bounced back to defeat Evansville 5-2 on Sunday, April 7. Emmie Marx, playing most of her matches at the No. 1 singles position, has a record of 9-8 in MVC play.
Bradley (8-12, 0-3) will be looking for its first conference win after falling to Southern Illinois and Evansville last weekend. Adele Henke carries a singles record of 13-5 into the weekend for the Braves who will take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb. on Saturday before heading to Wichita on Sunday.
Wichita State (8-10, 3-0) defeated Northern Iowa and Drake last weekend to keep their MVC record undefeated. Rebecca Pedrazzi and Carla Venticinque bring a doubles record of 13-7, including 9-4 in dual matches, into the weekend. They have won three consecutive contests and eight out of their last ten. Montse Blasco Fernandez and Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul have a record of 10-6 on the season and have also won three straight matches.
In singles play, Pedrazzi and fellow freshman Julia Schiller have played well for Wichita State. Both have won their last two matches and remain undefeated in MVC matches.
Saturday’s match against Illinois State is USTA/ITA Campus Kids’ Day at Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. There will be free food and drink, music and prizes. See the attached flyer for more information. The match begins at 1 p.m.
