WICHITA, Kan. - Two Wichita State baseball players were drafted in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Sat., June 8.
Junior pitcher Brandon Peterson was drafted in the 13th round by the Minnesota Twins, while junior pitcher Albert Minnis was drafted in the 25th round by the Houston Astros.
Peterson, from Savage, Minn., went 3-1 with a 1.12 ERA and 10 saves. He struck out 42 in 40 innings pitched and earned first team all-Valley honors and was named Valley Newcomer of the Year.
Minnis, from Lawrence, Kan., went 3-2 with a 3.19 ERA and one save. He struck out 64 in 59.1 innings pitched and earned honorable mention all-Valley honors.
Two Shocker signees were also drafted as Sam Tewes went in the 22nd round to the Toronto Blue Jays and Connor Goedert went in the 34th round to the Pittsburgh Pirates.
