DES MOINES, Iowa- The Shockers wrapped up competition at the USA Championships today with the big story of the weekend being the performance of Wichita Heights product Austin Bahner, who finished seventh in the Decathlon with 7574 points.

His finish qualifies him for the USA Thorpe Cup Team, an international competition that pits the USA against Germany on July 27-28 in Chula Vista, CA.

“I am so proud of Austin Bahner,” head coach Steve Rainbolt said. “This is a huge accomplishment for a college track and field athlete and this is a huge thing for Shocker Track & Field. I’m really excited for him to have this opportunity to compete for Team USA.”

Freshman Chase Pote finished 11th in the Junior Javelin throw with a mark of 187-8.  Former Shocker Chandra Andrews finished 14th in the Hammer with a throw of 197-4.
