WICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State volleyball team is ranked 24th in the AVCA Preseason Poll, which was released Aug. 12.  The Shockers received 172 points in the poll.

The Shockers open the season on the road Aug. 30, at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational in Orem, Utah, against North Dakota State.

WSU returns five starters and 10 letterwinners to a team that went 24-10 in 2012 and advanced to the first Sweet 16 in school history.

The Shockers will play four teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the preseason poll including Hawaii (11th), Louisville (19th), Creighton (25th) and Northern Iowa (RV).

Top returners include 2012 All-American and first team all-Valley selection Chelsey Feekin and second team selection Elizabeth Field. Feekin averaged 1.94 kills, 9.90 assists, 2.70 digs and 0.60 blocks per set and hit .435, which ranked fifth nationally. Field averaged 2.14 kills and 0.73 blocks per set.
