KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Wichita State volleyball team earned a 3-0 win over East Tennessee State in the Comcast Lady Vol Classic. The Shockers (6-1) won by scores of 25-10, 26-24 and 25-13.
Ashlyn Driskill led the Shockers with 10 kills, while Chelsey Feekin had 34 assists and Alyssa Carney had nine digs.
Ashley Andrade opened up the first set with two-straight kills and the Shockers used a 10-0 run to increase the lead to 21-9. Kills from Driskill and Sam Sanders ended the set with a 25-10 win.
The Shockers raced out to a 7-0 lead in the second set and increased it 17-10 on a kill from Andrade, but the Bucs battled back to tie it at 19 with a service ace. ETSU reached set point at 24-22, but WSU ended the set on a four-point run to win 26-24.
Katie Reilly’s service ace gave the Shocks a 4-1 lead in the third set, but the Bucs rallied to take an 8-6 lead. WSU went on an 8-0 run to go in front 16-8 and cruised to the 25-13 win.
The Shockers are next in action tonight against Tennessee at 6 p.m. Central time.
