VB: Hawaii Press Conference
WICHITA, Kan. –The Wichita State volleyball team fell to No. 7 Hawaii 3-0 on Saturday night 3-0 at Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers lost by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-23.
Ashlyn Driskill had 10 kills in the effort for Wichita State, while Chelsey Feekin had 28 assists and Dani Mostrom added 10 digs.
The Rainbow Wahine raced out to a 5-1 lead in the first set and increased the lead to 15-7 after a service ace from Mita Uiato. The Shockers used a 3-0 run to pull within 15-10 and a UH attack error to make the score 18-15. That was as close as the Shockers would get as UH won the set 25-20.
A kill by Ashlyn Driskill gave the Shocks a 10-9 lead in the second set, but a 4-0 run by the Rainbow Wahine put UH up 14-11. WSU used kills from Katie Reilly and Ashley Andrade to tied the score at 15, but the Rainbow Wahine pulled away at the end to take a 25-20 win.
The third set was close the whole way and the Shockers went up 9-6 on a kill from Driskill, and later 17-14 on a kill by Katie Reilly. Hawaii kept fighting however, and with the score tied at 23, grabbed two straight points to put the match away.
The Shockers are next in action on Sun., Sept. 22 when they host No. 23 Creighton at 2 p.m. inside Charles Koch Arena.
