Louis Cohen Boyer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for Oct. 16. Boyer turned in his third top-10 finish out of four fall tournaments by taking 7th at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate in Overland Park, Kansas.
The junior started quickly with a 2-under 70 in the opening round then provided back- to-back rounds of 73 to finish even on the par-72 Milburn Golf and Country Club. Boyer leads the Shockers with a 72.36 stroke average this fall.
This is the fourth career MVC Golfer of the Week award for Boyer.
As a team, WSU placed fifth in the 15-team tournament. In addition to Boyer’s excellent effort, Alec Heinen tied for 17th with a 6-over 222. The fall season for the Shockers concludes next week with the Herb Wimberley Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
