WSU to Play Buffalo in CBI

WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State's men's basketball team (16-16) will play host to Buffalo at home in Charles Koch Arena in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) 7:05 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, Director of Athletics Eric Sexton announced today. Season ticket holders are now able to purchase their seat location online through noon, Tuesday, for the Wednesday game. Non-season ticket holders may begin purchasing seats after that deadline.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Shocker Ticket Office, by phone at 316-978-3267, or online at Goshockers.com. The Shocker Ticket Office is located at the South Entrance of Charles Koch Arena (21st and Hillside) and will be open 8 a.m., to 7 p.m. on March 16 and 17. Tickets for the first round tournament game are same as the regular season for lower bowl at $21, upper bowl at $20. A limited number of general admission tickets will be available in sections 116 and 117 at $15 each.

Wichita State students may pick up one free student ticket with a valid WSU Student ID for the first 1,000 students. Student guest tickets are $10 each and are limited to one per student. Students may also purchase general admission tickets at $15.

Season ticket holders purchasing online at Goshockers.com will need to click on “Tickets” on the left hand side of the home page, then on “Buy tickets” in the drop down menu, then on “Season Ticket” renewals from the main ticket page. Season ticket holders who have linked their season ticket account online already will need their email address and password, while those customers who have not done so need to refer to the letter sent by the ticket office last week, or call the Shocker Ticket Office. All tickets ordered by season ticket holders will be available for Will Call pickup at 8 a.m., Tuesday morning.

SASO members will use the same parking tag and numbered stall as they used during the regular season. Contact the SASO Office with questions regarding parking at 316/978-7276.

The CBI is a 16-team, single-elimination tournament, until the Championship Series, with all games being held at campus sites of the higher seed. Eleven of the 17 games will be nationally televised on the HDNet.

The Championship Series will be a best-of-three series, home-away-home, in which the higher seed will get the first and last (if necessary) home games. The event will feature eight first-round games, four quarterfinal games, a semifinal round and then a Championship Series.

Opening Round: March 17-18
Quarterfinal Round: March 23
Semifinal Round: March 25
Championship Series: March 30, April 1, April 3 (if necessary)

WSU is coming off the Valley Tournament in St. Louis, Mo., where it went 1-1, and are led in scoring by freshman Toure Murry and junior Clevin Hannah, who each average 11.1 points per game. The Shockers, which carry a 13-3 home record, have a 63-game attendance streak of more than 10,000 fans, and have sold out Charles Koch Arena eight times in 2008-09.
