"Matt Baty is a great addition to Shocker Athletics," Sexton said. "His experience is very diverse, and as a native Wichitan he will be a great addition to our team. It is wonderful to have someone of his caliber to build lasting relationships with our supporters and alumni."
Baty has served as marketing coordinator within the University of Kansas Athletics Department since 2006, where he has been responsible for the implementation of marketing and sales strategies for all Olympic sports, emphasizing in football, baseball, volleyball and men's and women's basketball.
During his time at KU Baty has also served as liaison to the Williams Educational Fund, and played a key role in raising $1.2 million annually for non-revenue sports and construction of a new rowing boathouse. Baty has also worked directly with donors at athletics events and other special functions.
Baty has also served as the Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Championship Floor Manager for each of the last three seasons, and also served as the floor manager for the NCAA First and Second Rounds in March. His responsibilities included the administration of the event in relation to the floor, including team bench areas, entrances to the playing floor, the training room and locker rooms.
Prior to his time at KU, Baty spent a year as an administrative intern for the Big 12 Conference where he assisted in the management of the football, men's basketball and baseball conference championships.
Baty was a four-year starter on the Kansas baseball team, and was the first Jayhawk to ever earn first team all-Big 12 honors while being named MVP of the 2006 Big 12 Baseball Championship. He was a four-time Academic all-Big 12 selection while graduating from KU with a B.S., in sport management.
