Position Description
Director/Assistant Director of Multimedia

The Director/Assistant Director of Multimedia reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director/Marketing and Strategic Communications. The position works closely with all members of the Athletic Department, including coaching staff, as well as members of the University community. Key responsibilities of this position will be enhancement and expansion of Wichita State Athletics’ video production efforts to engage fans and other potential key stake holders.  Methods include but are not limited to live webstreaming (ShockerVision), promotional and recruiting videos, etc.  The Director/Assistant Director will also further develop initiatives in Multimedia, Social Media and New Media.  This will include recruitment, training and evaluating student teams to assist in productions and live webstream events.

Responsibilities: The Director/Assistant Director of Multimedia will be primarily responsible for a wide variety of video features, including, but not limited to:

·       Direct and produce

o   annual season highlight and review videos

o   commercial television spots

o   banquet videos and recruiting videos

o   marketing and promotional videos, interviews, and press conferences

o   In-game content for digital video boards and webstreaming

·       Edit highlight packages for distribution to TV stations and GoShockers.com.

·       Develop creative video segments for potential and corporate partner productions.

·       Revenue goals associated with video streaming to include but are not limited to subscription packages, advertising, and sponsorships.

·       Design and update graphics and pre-production for all live events.

·       Discover new methods for content distribution.

·       Recruitment of student workers to assist with in-house production of content and live events.

Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in a related field; or a Bachelor’s degree and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated successful experience working in an intercollegiate or professional sports environment producing video content; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce high quality video content in a time-sensitive environment; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with various constituencies; working knowledge of various video hardware and software, including, or comparable to NewTek TriCaster video production system, Daktronics Show Control, FinalCut Pro editing software, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

Position Description
Assistant Director of Marketing and Community Engagement

 

The Assistant Director of Marketing and Community Engagement reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director/Marketing and Strategic Communications. The position works closely with all members of the Athletic Department as well as numerous contacts outside the University community. The Assistant Director’s main responsibilities include the overall marketing and promotion of Wichita State Athletics and connectivity to the Wichita community.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Director of Marketing and Community Engagement will:

•       Develop and implement marketing and ticket sales plans for Volleyball, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball.

•       Oversee all promotional efforts for Olympic sports including Cross Country, Track and Field, Men’s Tennis, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Golf, and Women’s Golf.

•       Enhancement of game atmosphere for Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s basketball, Baseball, and Softball.  (Music, videos & fan interaction)

•       Solicit, secure, and develop new media sponsorship packages to utilize for annual promotion.

•       Coordinate and fulfill all advertising efforts, including but not limited to television, radio, print, and new media.

•       Initiate design of all schedule cards, posters, and other collateral materials including season ticket sales and single-game promotional spots.

•       Work with food vendors to secure training table meals and hospitality/club meals.

•       Work with the department's multi-media rights holder to ensure sponsorship fulfillment for select programs

•       Oversight of day-to-day licensing responsibilities

•       Work with student organizations in an effort to enhance collaboration and organize fan interaction.

•       Development and continued implementation of community engagement plans.

•       Collaborate with other members of Wichita State Marketing and Communications staff to formulate affective and strategic communications strategies.

•       Include the oversight of Graduate Assistants and student marketing assistants.

•       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree preferred. Organization and time-management skills; must possess strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and creativity; must be able to work as a team member and independently; 1-3 years of relative experience in collegiate and/or professional sports, marketing, sales, public relations or other similarly related field preferred.
