Freshman (2006-07): Gal Mekel started three of the 31 games he has played in, averaging 4.0 points 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists...His career-highs came with 13 points against Bradley in Wichita, while his season-high four rebounds came against Missouri State in the Valley Tournament...He came of the bench in WSU’s win against Rockhurst and his career-opener to score seven points on 3-of-6 shooting, with one rebound, two assists and one block...He backed that with eight points in 12 minutes against Chicago State.

 

Before WSU: Helped his team to back-to-back national championships his junior and senior year and a national cup his senior year... Played for Macabi Tel-Aviv club team and was named the MVP of the National League...Was the captain for the 18-and-under national team in Israel and attracted a lot of attention with his play in the Albert Schweitzer under-18 tournament in which he scored 31 points with six assists against Spain and 29 points with six assists against the United States... Averaged 17.6 points per game in the U-18 European Championships in July, including a 29 point, seven rebound performance against Iceland...Played for coach Ami Nawe at Alliance high school... Was named MVP of the National High School Tournament in Israel.
