SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Four Wichita State pitchers combined to shut out Missouri State, 3-0, in game three of the series.
Starter Garrett Brummett went 5.1 shutout innings and allowed just three hits with three walks. Reliever Foster Vielock pitched 2.1 shutout innings with a strikeout, while Austin Sanders retired the only hitter he faced. Brandon Peterson pitched a scoreless ninth for his eighth save of the season.
Taylor Doggett went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a two walks, while Micah Green went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Casey Gillaspie doubled to right field with one out in the fourth inning and moved to third on a balk. Gillaspie scored on a groundout from Micah Green to give WSU a 1-0 lead.
WSU rallied for two more runs in the ninth. Gillaspie walked with two outs and went to third on a single through the left side from Micah Green. After an intentional walk to Tyler Baker loaded the bases, Taylor Doggett singled to right-center to drive in Gillaspie and Green and give the Shocks a 3-0 lead.
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., May 7 when they host Kansas at 6:30 p.m.
