The Shockers, who had scored two runs in the second and third innings, added two more in the fifth as a Preston Springer double brought home Cody Lassley with the first run of the inning.  Springer later scored on Johnny Coy's second double of the game, a lined shot down the left-field line that made the score 6-0, WSU.

Dallas Baptist pushed a run across in the sixth on the Jason Krizan home run and then another run thanks to a WSU error in the eighth.  Logan Hoch, pitching in relief of Cooper, kept the Patriot bats silent through the remainder of the contest as Hoch limited the visiting team to two hits and an unearned run through two innings pitched, striking out four while issuing only one free pass.
