WICHITA, Kan.- Rob Musgrave threw a seven-inning shutout, and Wichita State’s offense provided 12 runs in the nightcap of the MVC tournament on Thursday.

Musgrave scattered seven hits and walked no one while striking out five.  No Saluki managed more than one hit off the senior left-hander who improved to 10-1 on the season.

The Shockers started strong, scoring four runs right off the bat.  Andy Dirks started off with a ground-rule double and Ryan Jones laid down his first pitch for a sacrifice bunt.  The fourth ball to Conor Gillaspie got passed the pitcher, scoring Dirks and rounding Gillaspie to second.  Clint McKeever was hit by a pitch and a Josh

Workman single drove in a run.  Tyler Weber squeezed in a hit down the left field line for a double that gave WSU a 4-0 lead.

Kevin Hall bunted for a single to lead off the second inning, and back-to-back singles by Dirks and Jones plated the freshman runner, and Dirks scored on an error by the second baseman.  Dusty Coleman singled deep to the third baseman, crossing Jones.

Dirks sacrificed in Weber in the third, and a Gillaspie single brought two more home.

A Tyler Hill single and fielder’s choice by Jones each plated a run in the sixth for Wichita State.

WSU and Missouri State, the only remaining undefeated teams in the tournament, face off at 3 p.m., Friday afternoon.  SIU will play Creighton at 11 a.m., that morning.
