Fall World Series Set to Begin Oct. 1

WICHITA, Kan. – The annual Wichita State baseball Fall World Series will begin on Wed., Oct. 1, at Eck Stadium. The series will last until Wed., Oct. 15, while Alumni Weekend will be held Oct. 3-4.

The Shocker roster will be divided into two teams, the Black and the Gold. One will be coached by 17th-year assistant coach Jim Thomas and the other by third-year volunteer assistant Jerod Goodale. The rosters will be announced at a later date.

The Gold squad won the 2007 Fall World Series in six games.

Conor Gillaspie led the Gold squad with a .526 average with 11 RBI, three doubles and four stolen bases, while Logan Hoch pitched nine innings with a 3.00 ERA for the Gold.

Kenny Williams Jr. led the Black squad with a .412 average with two runs, two RBI and two stolen bases, while Cameron Maldonado pitched 11 innings with a 0.82 ERA.

Admission to each game of the Fall World Series is a can of food for the Kansas Food Bank.
